This thesis has been written with the aim of illustrating the project carried out during an internship that concerned the improvement of documentation flows in the vaccines production plant of the GSK Vaccines Srl company in Rosia. In particular, the focus is on the processes related to maintenance and calibration master data, consisting of all the operations carried out by part of the Reliability Engineering team that are related to the import and update of the data in the company Enterprise Resource Planning system. In this work are studied documentation flow, archiving and maintenance intervention request opening processes, with the focus on optimization, through both qualitative and quantitative methods. Tools for the study of processes were used to highlight the major criticalities of the procedures through four steps: current flow mapping, criticality analysis, improvements identification and action plan definition. Solutions have been proposed and implemented to re-engineer methodologies and to apply concepts of the Lean philosophy aimed at reducing waste, with the main objective to increase the reliability of the processes related to the master data and to the request of maintenance intervention by the production departments.
