Abstract:

In an age of technological advancements, the theory of Dominant Designs has gained much interest and inquiry over the previous several decades. As a completely new design or huge update discovered and implemented in any field has the ability to upset a firm's whole market domination, forecasting possible dominant designs in their early stages is extremely difficult, yet vital for investors and companies. This paper presents a methodology for projecting the likely dominating design for the near future in global data centers, with a particular emphasis on the logic board architectures now being deployed and developed. x86 CISC architecture currently being a dominant design in the field capturing nearly all of the global server market is challenged by RISC architecture. Results of the analysis demonstrate that as except some operations, RISC systems are 3 to 4 times more efficient than CISC systems and considering other market factors, RISC architecture can be predicted to capture bigger market share than CISC does in the future.
