Abstract
This thesis deals with implementing into the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software SU2 a pipeline for performing numerical investigations of flow control via uniform blowing and suction on transonic wing profiles. The final goal is to validate the pipeline and perform Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes Simulations of flow control on wing profiles, in order to assess the effect of the control on lift and the various sources of drag on wings. The validation of the code consists in running a simulation of the same case through three different softwares (SU2, OpenFOAM and xFoil) and comparing their results in terms of aerodynamic coefficients (lift and drag) and of polar diagrams force coefficients, covering a vast parameter space.
Variations in terms of turbulence parameters and angle of attack of the airfoil are done in order to show results in polar of Cl - Cd and Cl - α
