CO2 reutilization for water desalination.

Rel. Matteo Fasano, Matteo Morciano. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Energetica E Nucleare, 2022

Abstract:

The focus of the thesis is a novel desalination technology based on the reuse of carbon dioxide, obtained as an output from industrial processes, as a heat carrier for water thermal desalination. The technology combines great evaporation performances at sub-boiling temperatures with an effective Carbon Capture and Reuse (CCR) process which avoids the release in the atmosphere of the greenhouse gas that will be stored in the water itself. An analysis of the performances of the device has been performed through a MATLAB model. The amount of water produced according to the model has been compared with experimental results of similar technologies.
