Abstract
With the growth of the urban economy and the acceleration of urbanization, the old city renewal has increasingly become the focus of government work, and some big cities have taken the lead in implementing a huge number of influential old city renewal projects. In 2006, Guangzhou started to promote a new round of old city renewal and construction and put forward the urban development strategy that transferred the focus of urban and rural planning practice from the traditional "incremental plan" gradually into the "stock plan", from persuing economic growth to improving people's livelihood, perfecting urban functions, optimizing the spatial layout and improving the overall quality of urban development.
In the progress of reconstruction, public participation plays an important role in the conservation of historic areas, but there are still many problems in China that make it unprocurable
