Abstract:

An emerging trend in the sector of biometric fingerprint scanners is the new market of mobile fingerprint scanners, made possible today thanks to the adoption of TFT optical sensors. The objectives of this Thesis will be to introduce the principle of working of TFT optical sensors, its manufacturing process, and then to design a system to acquire biometric images from an experimental TFT Sensor, develop it and implement it on a real hardware based on a Lattice FPGA and a Cypress Microcontroller, in order to obtain a working prototype of a mobile fingerprint scanner.
