Abstract
The work of this thesis, carried out in a multidisciplinary environment such as a typical student team, consists of two distinct phases: 1. Analysis of the context of a Rally competition, technical analysis of the starting vehicle (a front-wheel drive FIAT Panda prior to 2003) and the possibility of converting this to hybrid all-wheel drive traction (4WD-H). 2. Creation of a software in a MATLAB / Simulink environment that is able to: • Approximate sufficiently the dynamics of the vehicle in this peculiar competition. • Produce a reliable control algorithm for the electric motor installed on the car to obtain a torque distribution that can improve the dynamic capabilities of the overall system.
Finally, such a controller is verified and validated in order to translate itself into a code, automatically produced, executable on a Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP) platform.
