Abstract:

As literature suggests, the patenting process is a powerful tool for identifying and evaluating how knowledge flows within a society. In this research, by building the innovation network based on patents and their citations, we try to explore the Italian innovative environment in order to better understand the processes that drive its development, with particular regards to the role of knowledge spillovers. First, we will focus on the role of the geographical and technological proximity, by analysing patent citations and collaborations data. Then, we will enforce this methodology to the Green Innovation context, providing institutions and firms a useful tool for implementing regulatory policies as well as Competitive and Business Intelligence strategies.
