Abstract:

Carbon emissions reduction in city logistics is a central theme for the future sustainability and liveability of cities. With the increasing number of people living in cities, the growing trend of e-commerce deliveries and the increasing environmental awareness, the academic interest in this theme is consequently increasing. This thesis represents a literature review on the theme of carbon emissions in city logistics. Fifty papers have been analysed and classified in ten categories: drones, cargo bikes, electric vans, urban consolidation centres, delivery robots, crowdshipping, parcel lockers, collaboration, online shopping, and other minor solutions. Main research results and future research perspectives are highlighted.
