Abstract
This quantitative study assesses the paucity and diversity of distinct last names of the population in the public service through statistical techniques and tools. Based on the transparency data from the Chilean Civil Service Department and Civil Register Department, this research aims to explore the degree of overrepresentation and nepotism of several organisms and hierarchy scales in the public service, in particular, we focus on those groups who were through a merit-based selection known as Sistema de Alta Dirección Pública.
