Abstract
Nowadays thermal comfort research is driven from the urgency of decarbonizing the built environment, green heating solutions, like infrared panels, are therefore proposed for residential houses on the market, and claimed to be affordable, sustainable, and capable of reaching good comfort levels. Within this research, is done an evaluation of the available method to assess thermal comfort in residential environments, enlightening their accuracy with radiant solutions, and investigating their weaknesses. Also, through the application of a case study building, an evaluation of an IR-panels heating system is done, assessing the performances in terms of efficiency, comfort level, and cost, with a particular attention to local discomforts.
This system is finally compared with another all-electric solution, a heat pump heating system combined with radiant floors.
