Triaxiality effects on the mechanical behaviour of additively manufactured aluminium alloys for automotive applications.

Rel. Paolo Matteis. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Meccanica (Mechanical Engineering), 2020

Abstract:

The additively manufactured AlSi10Mg and AlSi7Mg aluminum alloys are examined here. The as-built materials are characterized by means of chemical and metallographic analyses. The mechanical behavior of the materials is thoroughly studied by means of a large series of tests performed under different stress states, encompassing a wide range of triaxiality values, and also taking into consideration different building orientations. The digital image correlation method is used to measure the strain field on the test specimen surfaces, and the same tests are compared with numerical simulations.
