Abstract:

The aim of this master thesis project is to create, characterize and optimize the fabrication process of composite electrospun fibers containing bioglass nanoparticles. The nanoparticles were synthesized and characterized at Politecnico di Torino trying to avoid aggregation, they contain phosphorus, calcium, copper and boron ions to improve their bioactivity. In Erlangen the project proceeded by creating PCL fibers, containing bioglass nanoparticles, via electrospinning technique, optimizing all the parameters of the process to enhance the material properties for tissue engineering application.
