Automatic tool development for LPT preliminary assessments.
Rel. Christian Maria Firrone. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Meccanica (Mechanical Engineering), 2019
Abstract
The aim of this thesis work is the development of an automatic Tool which provides preliminary assessments of LPT stages of aeronautical engines. It produces a quick aeromechanical feedback during the aerodynamic design, leading to an easier interaction between the two disciplines. The standard process starts with the aerodynamic design of the airfoil and then it proceeds with the aeromechanical analyses, coming back to the aerodynamic team for modifications in the geometry, if needed. Thanks to the Tool, the interactions between the two teams are reduced, as the time requested for the design activity. The Tool receives as input the aerodynamic data and it creates the 3D airfoil and the CAD of the blade, with consistent inner and outer elements.
The geometry is modeled through the software Unigraphics NX
