Abstract
Corrosion has always been one of the biggest problems related to the automotive sector as well as one of the most difficult to approach. The braking system is also affected by corrosive phenomena, not so much during the running rather during the long exposure to atmospheric agents with the vehicle stopped. In this situation the corrosion products of the disk tend to fill the porosity of the pad making it adhere to the surface of the cast iron. In this case the braking system must be completely replaced. In order to avoid these drawbacks, in this thesis a experimental method, in an electrochemical cell, has been perfected.
This test allow us to predict the stiction behavior of various types of pads reducing considerably the evaluation time from three weeks to 24 hours, of which only five hours in the electrochemical cell
