Abstract
Title: Photovoltaic power supply for neural implants. Current implantable medical devices used to assist malfunctioning organs such as pacemakers, spinal cord stimulators, vagus nerve stimulators or deep brain stimulators, are powered by batteries. Limited capacity, size restrictions and finite lifetime are the main drawbacks of the available technology. One promising strategy to overcome these limitations could take advantage of solar energy as power source. Therefore, following the approach already implemented by Ferlauto et al. [1] , this project aims at developing and characterizing a wireless photovoltaic device that could be used to stimulate the optic nerve or other regions of the nervous system.
