Abstract:

Automation in the food industry is not a distant reality, and once started it would be hard to stop its inroad. The technology to create a real AI bartender is still too expensive, but first steps have already been made. This thesis presents the continuation of Mr Peano’s final project entitled “Innovative beer dispenser based on collaborative robotics”, in which he chose the robot to be used and laid out a possible bar counter configuration. My contribution on the project was to mount the same robot on the final bar counter, program its motion cycle using the ABB development studio RobotStudio to achieve a satisfactory beer tapping cycle and to develop a GUI on an Android smartphone app capable of interacting with the robot by accepting an order and receiving payment . The system is not yet complete, since a liquid protective “coat” is still missing and at the moment some issues still exist in the cup retrieving phase, however a solution has been proposed, but not yet implemented.
