EUROPEAN FDI TRENDS AND SELECTION CRITERIA OF MULTINATIONALS IN E-COMMERCE SECTOR

After a brief description of the rise and diffusion of the e-commerce and its typologies, the thesis identifies and describes the European trend of Foreign Direct Investments in years 1997-2017 in this sector. The script focuses on geographic trends and their historical causes. Finally an econometric analysis is implemented to recognize the Countries selection criteria by private companies and to quantify variables impact on their decision-making process. Conclusions show how European countries regulated the spreading e-commerce practices and recommend to lead it minimizing the negative social impacts.
