Aerodynamic design of a blisk fan: multidisciplinary optimization by aero-mechanical iterations.

Rel. Francesco Larocca. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Aerospaziale, 2018

Abstract:

The Fan is one of the most important part of a turbofan engine. It normally represents 30 % of the engine mass and 80% of the thrust produced. Therefore, it is easy to understand that the optimization of the fan performances and the reduction of its mass are important goals that must be reached in order to have a good performing engine. The objective of this report is to show an aerodynamic optimization conducted on a blisk fan in parallel with a structural analysis. The structural analysis and optimization have been conducted by another intern. Several iterations, which will be explained in this report, have been conducted during the 6-month internship. The aim of the two internships is to design the blisk fan starting from a conventional fan, by changing different parameters which can be modified because of the introduction of the blisk fan architecture.
