Abstract:

The main goal of this thesis is to support the Valeo Mondovì R&D team in the early developing phase of a new DMF in order to test and to check some possible design implementations. In particular, both the vehicle test and the dynamic simulation have been used for this purpose. As regards the simulation, starting from standard blocks it has been possible to compose different dynamic model for the examined driveline case. The main features analyzed in the NVH study are the torsional vibration and the noise associated with different vibrational issues. It is possible to summarize the NVH study in the following phase:1. some vehicle tests have been carried out using a first DMF design in order to obtain a subjective NVH quotation;2. the dynamic model has been correlated using as input the recorded signals of first vehicle test set;3. the correlated model has been used for simulation purpose in order to check the DMF design implementation and their consequences for Valeo/customer NVH target;4. finally, when the customer has made available the vehicle, the results of simulation have been compared to vehicle measurements. In the first section, a brief overview of the ICE dynamic vibrational issues and the vehicle driveline for the case of a manual transmission is provided. It is important to consider the whole transmission system in the NVH analysis due to the iterations of DMF with the others driveline elements. In the second section, it is reported the description of performed tests and DMF specification related to each test, a description of Amesim model used for correlation/simulation and finally the results of each analysis phase.
