Abstract: |
This thesis presents an analysis on the impact of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) on an aircraft engine. Conducted in collaboration with AvioAero s.r.l. , a leading aerospace company based in Turin, the study aims to evaluate the effects of EMI on engine performance and reliability by post-processing in closed-loop simulations the EMI disturbances that could affect an aircraft engine during the various phases of the mission. The research methodology involves a series of controlled EMI tests, data collection, and subsequent analysis trough NPSS closed loop simulations to identify potential vulnerabilities and performance degradation of an control system of a tuboprop engine. The findings highlight critical insights into the interaction between EMI and engine avionic components, providing valuable information to improve engine design and comply with safety standards. The results underscore the importance of rigorous EMI testing in the aerospace industry to ensure the robustness and reliability of the engine in various operational environments. |
