Abstract:

DESIGN FOR A TREAD WEAR DETECTION SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATIC TIRE CHANGING MACHINES-ABSTRACT This study aims to design an automatic system for monitoring tyre wear, using a laser sensor integrated with other technologies, such as position and pressure sensors. The main objective is to simplify the work of operators, often tyre specialists, by reducing intervention times and minimising the physical effort required. The research was conducted in collaboration with Devel s.r.l., a leading manufacturer of automatic tire changers. The implementation of this system in their 5.0 automations would represent a unique innovation worldwide. Currently, tire wear monitoring is mainly carried out visually (approximate method), with portable technologies or on other equipment such as balancers.
