Hydrogen Heavy Duty ICE: analysis and comparison of different turbocharging systems.
Rel. Federico Millo. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Automotive Engineering (Ingegneria Dell'Autoveicolo), 2025
Abstract: |
The aim of the study is to investigate the impact of different air-boosting systems on a heavy-duty hydrogen ICE. The first part of the study will focus on the assessment of benefits and drawbacks of the boosting systems such as Variable Geometry and Fixed Geometry turbine, with or without Super charger, both in steady-state and transient conditions within a 1D simulation environment. The numerical tool used for these computations is GT-Power®. The steady-state and load-steps results will be used later within a 0D mean value powertrain model environment to evaluate on transient cycles the benefits in terms of torque response, fuel consumption and engine-out NOx emissions. |
