Abstract:

With the continuous expansion and improvement of the urbanization process, cities have become an indispensable and important environment in people's lives. As the city develops, the scale of population and economic activities increases, leading to a continuous increase in the complexity and density of urban life. In this process, urban safety issues have become increasingly prominent, as the safety of the city directly affects the residents' quality of life and sense of security. Therefore, ensuring stable urban safety has become a necessary measure to improve the quality of urban life. However, despite the continuous development of cities, urban insecurity remains one of the serious challenges we face. Issues such as urban crime rates and environmental pollution still plague many cities. To address these problems, urban regeneration has become an effective means to improve urban security. By renewing and transforming urban infrastructure, community environments, and public spaces, it is possible to effectively enhance urban safety and residents' quality of life. The main purpose of this study is to explore the necessary connection between urban regeneration and improving urban security, and to analyze how to use effective urban renewal methods to enhance urban safety. The study also discusses how to define the existing unsafe spaces within the city. By analyzing successful urban renewal cases, effective methods and measures for improving urban safety are identified. This research will use a combination of GIS technology and interview surveys to define and analyze the existing unsafe spaces in the city of Turin and apply the methods and measures obtained from the case studies to improve specific unsafe areas in Turin. The purpose of this article is to provide valuable insights and guidance for the future transformation of unsafe spaces in Turin, ensuring the safety and stability of the city and the quality of life for its residents. Through the outcomes of this research, we hope to provide similar methods and experiences for other cities, thereby promoting sustainable urban development and social progress.
