Abstract: |
The thesis studies the materials of the construction industry since ancient ages, then the particular mix of steel and concrete. It also studies the major drawback of steel as a reinforcement. It then includes introduction of new materials as an alternative of steel. The most important alternative is GFRP reinforcement and how these materials overcome the disadvantages of steel reinforcement. Finally the design of micropiles with traditional steel reinforcement and the design of micropiles using GFRP reinforcement showing the comparison and the differences between both the design approaches. Both the design approaches were applied on a practical case designed by the association Essebi Ingegneria. |
