Abstract:

The objective of this Master Thesis is to analyze the market around the XtraUS project, an innovative nanomedical technology to attack cancer and prevent cancer relapse. This is going to be done by the identification of the main competitors working on technologies with the same goal as XtraUS, with the purpose of scanning the market to look up for possible commercial alliances that can drive the technology to become leader in its field. The Master thesis will proceed as follows: First, a market analysis will be developed, in this part, with the patent analysis already performed as an input, the identification of people and companies listed on the patents is going to be made, reviewing, and understanding what they have patented and with this information, final products that can be considered relevant to the XtraUS technology are going to be listed. Subsequently, an online research is going to be performed to consider also the new possible technologies that were launched on the market after the patent analysis. Then, a classification of possible competitors and partners of XtraUS is going to be made, with the objective of making an evaluation of the saturation of the market in each of the fields of interest for the project (Extracorporeal Photopheresis, nanomedicine and ultrasound). In addition, these players are going to be divided by geographical regions, to determine where the technologies are being developed. On the same line, for each company information about the treatment, innovative features, presence in the world and financial information if any are going to be presented. On the other hand, a business analysis will be carried out, starting with the description of the technology, along with a business environmental analysis with the goal of defining the value proposition of XtraUS, identifying the potential market that is going to be served and describing the strengths of the new technology in comparison to the current ones. This is going to be achieved supported by the performance of different questionaries to the experts in the field of interest, and the use of diverse business tools such as the Porter’s Five Forces, Business Model Canvas, SWOT analysis, among others. In addition, the general description of the pharmaceutical industry, particularly the oncological field and the oncology drugs segments are presented, along with an estimation of the target number of customers to be served i.e., hospitals, cancer clinics, etc. Then, a legal analysis is also going to be performed to propose possible commercial alliances for XtraUS. On the other hand, in the conclusion chapter, the reasons why the XtraUS technology has advantages over the current ones are going to be presented, along with some insights about the legal analysis and a reasoning of which are the convenient markets to enter. Finally, a future outlook for the project is proposed based on the next steps to be taken so that this project can be consolidated as a company.
