Abstract:

The quantity of board-mounted LEDs has increased significantly in recent years. For critical applications like automotive and architectural lighting, having the correct color, luminous flux, and every other parameter with the right value is becoming necessary; as a result, understanding how to test these types of boards has become more crucial. SPEA S.p.A. is a world's leading manufacturer of mechatronic systems for testing LED properties using a variety of sensors. Due to calibration inaccuracy or measurement instability, different sensors may produce different results. The aim of this thesis is to compare and contrast the behavior of two distinct sensors. Validating all of the gathered measurements involves the evaluation of the two sensors' stability and repeatability. Once the stability has been established, the two sensors must be compared. Based on data gathered from the same board, a compatibility check was done in the best-case and worst-case scenarios. During the measuring procedure, a sensor's calibration must be appropriate. With the time flowing and the continued use of the sensor, the calibration can deteriorate, resulting in incorrect behavior. Data obtained from two sensors of the same type were shown to highlight the calibration misbehavior of the sensor most prone to machine wear-out when compared to the less utilized sensor.
