Abstract: |
TITLE: Design and Evaluation of 5G Network Stress Testing Methods for Connected Vehicles TYPE: EXPERIMENTAL – DEVELOPMENT DESCRIPTION: Today, often dedicated trial networks are used to create controlled environments for connected vehicle testing. Performance results obtained from such networks are only realistic if the offered data volume is also realistic. In real-world deployments several hundred vehicles can be served by a cell, but creating several hundred background traffic generators in testing scenarios can often be not feasible or too expensive. This thesis aims to evaluate different setups for background data generation in lab and outdoor connected vehicle trial fields. It will investigate the trade-offs between “realism” and “complexity” of different stress testing solutions. The thesis work also includes enhancement of connected driving applications, like High Definition Maps, to use them within the testbed to obtain realistic application level KPIs. |
