Abstract:

This thesis wants to study the influence and the effects of the rotation on a planar turbine cascade. The study starts from an experimental test rig developed by ITS of Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, in Karlsruhe, Germany. The aim is judging the eventual negligibility of rotational speed on the data collection on the rig; running the experiment in a fixed configuration, the effects of this variable cannot be directly observed. Implementation of rotation is applied by CFD software and RANS simulations. Beyond the focus about rotational speed, several aerodynamic effects are showed to provide knowledge about the particular case and to compare the data with the previous papers of scientific literature. Geomerical, numerical and boundary details are presented in the first part, while the second part is represented by results, which are explained through plots, images and graphs. At the end, the study is not considered resolved and more investigations are necessary. Nevertheless, it could be useful for future studies about aerodynamic and about thermal and heat transfer process.
