Abstract: |
There are several factors that can have influence in determinining the performance of a company and its results. Among the most critical ones there is for sure the Logistics Management and its activities. These are defined as the processes that focus on the planning, implementation and control of the forward and reverse flows of materials/services and their respective information, between the point of origin and the point of consumption of a Supply Chain, in order to meet customers’ requirements. Nowadays Supply Chains are usually complex and evoluting systems in which multiple business partners work together exchanging information, materials/services and financial flows, and therefore Logistics Management increased in complexity and importance as well. This factor is especially crucial and relevant for which regards E-Commerce industry and the companies operating in this market, as having well designed processes can affect both the parcel’s journey and the customer’s experience. For these companies, a proper Logistics Management strategy beneath with integrated information systems and processes can be highly crucial in determining whether or not the company will be successful. The aim of this work is to first identify and analyse the main characteristics and trends of this dynamic industry, with a particular focus on the Logistic topic. Secondarily, the main Logistics Management models, strategies and tools used by E-Commerce companies will be described. Finally, a real case example, based on my experience inside a growing tech consumer goods Company will be provided. |
