Abstract:

T: Virtualization of Process Engineering and Planning Support In this digital era, the Company competitiveness can be improved by optimizing production processes. However, a successful new product introduction is tough to achieve, the new product failure rate is substantial, and it also involves high costs for the company. So, the analysis of Product and Process Design plays a vital role in the New Product Introduction. Process Engineering and Planning is the activity of determining the manufacturing principles and operations needed to produce a product at an industrial level. The key elements of process engineering are Process Design, Process Control, Process Operations. Therefore, the designers must be able to communicate, visualize, analyze 3D modelling products, produce tangible and viable products suitable for the era of the 4.0 Industrial world. This thesis will present practical steps involved in introducing a new product on the production shop floor. The steps include Product/Process Development, Work Measurement methods study, using a representation of manual operations based on predetermined motion time systems (PMTS) and Developing SOP in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES). The Industrial Application of Process Engineering and Planning optimization by utilizing digital technologies like CAD tools and Virtual methods are addressed in this thesis. The methodology has been applied to a steering sub-assembly of a tractor.
