Abstract: |
Nowadays, the demand for connecting to the internet for exchanging information everywhere, every time and anyhow is noticeable. Thanks to Information communication technologies (ICT) services, through The Internet of Things commonly abbreviated “IoT” that focuses on inert-connecting of devices or things to each other and to the users. the main descriptive term of vision in IoT is shift the connections from “users to things” to “things to things”. Today the size of IoT has been increasing swiftly and more and more devices are being introduced into the IoT networks every day; also is expected to grow appreciably in the immediate future. The main aim of this thesis is to design a gateway and implement IoT monitoring system based on Low-Power Wide-Area Networks (LPWANs) and in this project focuses on specific LPWAN, namely, “LoRaWAN”protocol. LoRaWAN is able to communicate and transmit messages between devices and gateways. The LoRaWAN specification provides seamless interoperability among smart things without the need of complex local installations, enabling the rollout of IoT applications, according to the association. In this thesis, to further familiarize the reader with the foundations of LPWAN technology, a completely open-source LoRaWAN server is set up on a Raspberry Pi Linux-operated device and communications between the server and its end-nodes are discussed. The project had three phases. The first and the second phases used The Things Network and Lora server for designing and implementing of network server for LoRaWAN Application. The LoRa Server project provides open-source components for building LoRaWAN networks. Also The Things Network is building a network for the Internet of Things by creating abundant data connectivity. The other objective was to developing Network server of LoRaWan Application on a Raspberry Pi without using open source LoRaWAN network servers. Keywords: IoT, LoraWAN, LoRa, LoRaServer , TTN |
