Abstract:

The goal of this work is to support research that introduces a modern point of view to support the development process of digital artefacts, based on the notion of affordance. To achieve this, we started by analysing the “moments of interactions”, to better know and understand users’ intentions and behaviours before, during and after interaction. Indeed, since affordance “is in interaction” (Gibson, 1986) we aim at: 1. Validate the notion of digital affordances, as proposed by Perpignano (2020). 2. Identify factors driving these “moments of interaction”, in order to draw a comprehensive picture of the user relationship with the artefact and the environment. The study wants to fill in the existing theoretical basis, thought the usage of a case-study (that of food-delivery service). Thus, it first aims at developing a designer-oriented customer-discovery map and then to make use of the definition of “digital affordance” proposed by Perpignano (2020), so that it could be possible to validate its effectiveness. The result will be a step in building more affordable services, based on the true knowledge of the user.
