Abstract:

The thesis project aims to support the design and the integration of an HEC (Human External Cargo) System on the AS350 B3e helicopter. The work consists in demonstration of compliance with requirements to EASA, in order to make the aircraft with the new modification airworthy. The project was carried out in collaboration with the company TPS Aerospace Engineering, that has supported the work at every stage with specialists. First of all, the thesis provides a framework on the Safety Process and Reliability Analyses that must be executed to design the system architecture, to continue with the explanation of the analyses led for the case of study and presentation of the system design configuration. Specifically, the thesis work is focused on the demonstration of compliance and design for the hydraulic Quick Release System of the HEC System integration. Nevertheless, also all the other sub-systems, supporting QRS, are studied to complete the work. At the end of the thesis, is resumed as the HEC System architecture meets all the safety requirements identified during the entire Safety Process. Special attention is given to the concept of iterative and living process: all the Safety Assessment is based on this idea because of the continuous modifications made in order to perfectly meet Safety Requirements. The HEC System project is reported in this thesis, with detailed explanation of subsystems and items.
