Integration of digital technologies and Lean practices in Construction Management.

Rel. Alberto De Marco. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Gestionale, 2020

Abstract:

Innovative enabling technologies and construction methods are emerging, and they are bringing several benefits to companies and the construction industry. The research work will focus on the relation between Digital Twin (DT) technology, which can be still considered as an emerging technology in the construction industry, and BIM-Lean principles. The thesis will focus on the state of the art, in terms of systematic literature review of the interaction between DT technology, Lean Construction, and Building Information Modelling, in order to analyze benefits and major issues in their implementation. Then, the final aim of this research is to investigate the Australian construction company, to obtain a technology readiness level (TRL) to understand if the construction industry is ready and willing to widely accept DT as enabling technology to enhance BIM-Lean construction benefits.
