Abstract: |
Food wastage in the world is, and always has been a problem, according to recent statistics, despite being at the peak of food production in the current times, about 30−35% of the food is wasted annually. Going by the statistics for hunger that indicate that 820 million people in the world do not have access to adequate food (Food Security and Nutrition around the world 2019), hunger still remains an obstacle in the path of human civilization, therefore a better way to manage and distribute this vital resource is a necessity. This would be done by devising scientific techniques to optimize the supply chain and the management of the time crucial aspect when it comes to perishable foods. Surplus food redistribution is gaining traction day by day but there is no formal structure or a standard and optimal way to do it that is widely adopted. This leads to perishable foods closer to the date of expiry to go bad before they can reach the person who needs them. So, in thesis I proposed approach which will be using latest technology like IOT, Android, Node Js etc. to keep track of the food surplus in super-market and will be using linear programming optimization technique for handling the supply chain and the logistics of the entire operation of food collection and redistribution from supermarket to NPOs (Non profitable organization). |
