Tool development and implementation for preliminary dynamic analysis of LPT rotors.
Rel. Christian Maria Firrone. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Meccanica (Mechanical Engineering), 2020
Abstract: |
Currently the Aeronautic research field is continuously growing up, this thanks to the industrialization and to the exponential development of the global market. Thanks to the worldwide competition between industries, the research field is challenged to surpass the current technology limits once again. In this regard, the research aims to meet new strict needs for reliability, as well as decrease environmental impact dramatically. This Master of Science thesis, developed at Avio Aero – GE Aviation business, is part of the GREAT 2020 project, which dwells into the development of next generation engines that are projected towards the direction previously described. The thesis work is meant to investigate in the field of turbomachinery for aeronautical application, in detail dealing with the low-pressure turbine component of the rotors. The final aim is to present a robust tool able to facilitate preliminary rotor analysis turning the CAD creation and the analysis procedure autonomous. The software development and implementation are crucial to the speed up process needed inside the working teams which are protagonist of the LPT rotors design. The automatic procedure introduced can improve the velocity of feedbacks travelling between aerodynamics team and aeromechanics one. The main thesis focus is on the first loop of the tool code, in which the CAD creation has to turn automatic. The customization capability and the code robustness are guidelines of the presented work. Ultimately the coherence of code output is the core of this work, since it is meant to be a member of a major Tool capable of carrying out all the static and dynamic analyses requested by the user. |
