Abstract:

This thesis dissertation is not trying to justify the potential advantages of electric vehicles; instead, it investigates what the possible business models for OEMs to make use of electric vehicles in the best way possible are; especially in the ancillary markets. The suggestions, in the end, aims to propose KPIs to OEMs for long-term profitability by relieving the environment. For the people seeking answers to understand how to make a green impact on the environment by switching to clean energy, this study may depict a guideline. However, this thesis does not merely lean on the environmental benefits that EVs can provide but instead tries to answer, whether they are going to be sustainable also in terms of their technology, economic value and underlying infrastructure. Several topics have also been studied to provide a profound analysis instead of an overview to clarify the concerns. For that cause, the paradigm shift in the car market and the market drivers are also presented. The performed research provides several perspectives, and there are more robust drivers, which could be named as persuasive for potential EV customers. The major findings of the study are clustered in six different topics, which can be referred to as the areas of interest that OEMs should consider to compete at e-mobility. Nonetheless, the outcome recommends avoiding speaking with absolutes due to the rapid change of the market. There is a need to be updated, so the factors/drivers discussed may change or disappear, as well as some new ones can emerge.
