The Payment gateway providers world: The Axerve case from the past toward the future

The purpose of this study is to analyse the Axerve position in Italy and then provide possible strategies for the future. To understand what type of company is Axerve, in the thesis is explained the transaction process, both at physical and virtual level, presented all the main actors in the payment ecosystem, focalizing the attention to the Payment gateway role. After having contextualized the Axerve product, the payment sector is presented thanks to competitors’ analysis, number and statistics of the actual e-commerce world. In the thesis then is presented the Axerve position using company data, so there are statistics of the future sales, a comparative analysis and seasonality analysis. At the end after having understood the company actual situation, some recommendations are suggested for the Axerve future, looking to the regions where they must invest.
