Abstract: |
A study of the Portreath harbour wall is presented. The aim of work is to analyse the wall behaviour under wave loading in order to get its structural behaviour after that the storm in 2014 and 2018 damaged the structure. Analysis has been conducted by creating a FEM model of both the damaged parts of the wall. Results were analysed and it has been found that for the part damaged in 2014 the collapse was due to a progressive damage of the masonry, while for the part damaged in 2018 a shear failure occurred. The study is a preliminary work and further investigation with appropriate theories are required for a better understanding. |
