Abstract:

Country effect: study of the competitiveness of different markets Companies’ final aim is to generate value among customers creating meaningful products. The process that is in charge of transforming ideas in tangible products is called Product Development Process (PDP). The PDP can be broken down in four stages: A.??Concept generation and development phase B.??Product development and engineering phase C.??Process development and engineering phase D.??Pre-series production and production ramp up phase Process During all those phases, cost management takes an important role. Controlling and optimizing costs all over the product development process is fundamental but the biggest decisions are made at the very beginning steps. Indeed, during the first months the concept is delineated, the road map is decided and the margin target is set by the finance department. In order to achieve the set target, the car should not cost more than established amount thus some strategic decisions have to be made; one of them is the choice of the right country where to produce in, taken by evaluating several factors. The aim of my thesis is to go through those factors, analyze them to give the right asset for an aware selection and simulate the cost of different car components manufactured in several European and Extra-European countries. The study begins with a brief explanation of the cost structure in the chapter 2 followed by the chapter 3 containing the above-cited factors, listed and explained. The forth and core chapter of the thesis contains the simulations of the following components: •??Spoiler •??Fuel tank •??Front Brake Rotor •??Top Mount •??Wheel Rim •??Rail Assy Frame
