The motorcycle industry. An Assessment of Depreciation in Second Hand Italian Market

Set in the field of motorcycle industry, the thesis present an assessment of depreciation in the second hand Italian market. The work is divided into two main sections: the first part provides a comprehensive analysis of the motorcycle market, including production data, sales trends and consumer preferences, while the second investigates the dynamics of the Italian second hand motorcycle market. Focusing on depreciation, a dataset was built using data from major online platforms, allowing for both statistical and econometric analysis. Linear regression models have been applyed to identify the main factors influencing price depreciation such as brand, mileage, engine displacement and the age of the vehicle. The results offer insights into how different models retain their value over time, giving both consumers and producers the opportunity to make more conscious decisions regarding purchases, pricing strategies and market positioning.
