| Abstract: |
The thesis begins with an extensive and in-depth review of the state of the art on electrolyzers and hydrogen storage methods, with the aim of identifying the most suitable configuration for the development of a digital twin of a Power-to-X plant. The digital twin is designed using object-oriented programming in order to ensure computational efficiency and flexibility for future modifications. The plant model includes a daily performance analysis of a system composed of photovoltaic panels, an electrolyzer, and a metal hydride storage unit, as well as a long-term study that extends to the system’s lifetime. This lifetime assessment also comprises an economic analysis and the evaluation of selected environmental impact parameters. Both analyses are based on real meteorological data collected over 25 years, thus providing a realistic simulation of what will be implemented in the H2Glass project, within which the objectives of this work are framed. |
