Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the development and validation of a CO and emissions homologation procedure for hybrid and electric vehicles within the automation software used for chassis dynamometer testbeds. The procedure was designed based on the guidelines and requirements defined by the European Commission under the Euro 6 emission standard. A dedicated test logic was implemented in C++ using Qt Creator and integrated into AVL Italy’s i4Lx platform. The developed solution enables automated testing and evaluation of three distinct vehicle categories: OVC-HEV (Off-Vehicle Charging Hybrid Electric Vehicles), NOVC-HEV (Non-Off-Vehicle Charging), and PEV (Pure Electric Vehicles). The implementation covers all critical phases of the homologation process, including preconditioning, CD/CS mode transitions, cycle selection, break-off condition handling, and energy monitoring. By ensuring full compliance with Euro 6 standards, this work enhances the reliability and efficiency of testing workflows and supports broader environmental goals by enabling accurate certification of low-emission vehicles.
