Rel. Abdollah Saboori. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Meccanica (Mechanical Engineering), 2025
Abstract: |
Rapid advancements in technology have made communication easier and more accessible than ever. This advancement has raised the opportunity for global companies to digitalize services that require physical presence before, being accessible remotely. After the pandemic, remote systems gained prevalence worldwide, and compulsory change to remote working environments affected how industries operate. This change caused the companies to discover potential new ways of doing business remotely. Eventually, advancements in technologies like Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality and the wide prevalence of the shift of remote systems after the pandemic caused companies to implement Remote Assistance Platforms to operate more efficiently in various applications and sectors. FPT Industrial’s implementation of the Remote Assistance System is called Remote Master. When this thesis was written, the Remote Master project was in the pilot phase; it carries a significant opportunity for further development and the potential to become a massive success for FPT Industrial after-market operations. In this thesis, the first literature review is conducted to gain an understanding of remote assistance systems and underlying technologies that make collaboration possible. Then the position of the current version of Remote Master will be examined in detail by reviewing the platform and then by comparing it with literature and other commercial solutions. Finally, knowledge attained from the literature review and customer surveys is used to make an assessment and propose enhancements to FPT Remote Master. |
