Abstract:

This study focuses on the development of an energy model for a beverage production plant within the Food and Beverage sector, aiming to create a roadmap for achieving net-zero C02 emissions by 2050. This industry sector is one of the largest consumers of energy and significantly contributes to global greenhouse gas emission, making the implementation of sustainable and energy-efficient strategies crucial. A key component of this study involves the use of an Excel-based model to define and analyze the plant's primary energy vectors. By assessing the current state of the facility, the model will identify the specific energy needs and consumption patterns. This detailed analysis will serve as the foundation for implementing a comprehensive plan to transition the plant to a zero-impact operation. Through this model, various decarbonization scenarios will be created, considering the supply and demand dynamics of the plant's energy requirements. Simulation models are used to evaluate various technical and managerial solutions, including adoption of renewable energy sources, optimization of production processes and the integration of innovative technologies. The main aim of this research is the formulation of a clear and detailed roadmap that guides the plant towards carbon neutrality, aligned with global sustainability goals and European regulations. The roadmap outlines progressive steps, including investments in low-impact infrastructure, the transition to a cleaner energy and the reduction of energy intensity through operational efficiency.
