Abstract: |
Ensuring continuous operability and safeguarding critical data are vital in robotic control systems, especially in the event of power failures. This study addresses the need for a reliable 24V backup power management solution that allows seamless restarts when power is restored. A robot control system is composed of different modules each with a specific purpose, exchanging data through an Ethercat protocol. The study analyzes power consumption of each module under various operational configurations to determine their individual and collective energy demands. Power storage options, such as lithium, nickel-based, lead-acid batteries and supercapacitors, are evaluated based on their chemical and electrical characteristics to identify the most suitable technology for our needs, aiming for a cost-effective solution that minimizes volume and reduces maintenance requirements. In conclusion, a schematic is presented, integrating the chosen storage technology and specific market-available chips, illustrating the basic operation of the circuit during charging and discharging phases. |
