Abstract:

This thesis explores the application of Design of Experiments (DoE) in the field of electrical batteries, focusing on its role in optimizing various aspects of battery technology. Through a comprehensive literature review, this work categorizes existing research into four key areas: recycling and recovery of battery materials, battery performance and aging, synthesis and material optimization, and battery safety and management. The findings highlight DoE's effectiveness in improving the efficiency and sustainability of recycling processes, particularly in the recovery of critical materials from spent batteries. In terms of performance and aging, DoE has been pivotal in optimizing battery life and operational efficiency by systematically analyzing and improving factors such as charge/discharge rates and electrode materials. Additionally, DoE has facilitated advancements in the synthesis and optimization of battery materials, leading to the development of high-capacity and high-stability components. The application of DoE in safety and thermal management has further enhanced the reliability of battery systems, particularly in high-demand applications such as electric vehicles. This thesis concludes by discussing potential future research directions.
