Abstract:

Nowadays ones of the most important topics on which almost everyone is focused on are related to the energy, in terms of sustainability, green sources and climate changes. The ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) project represents one of the most ambitious and innovative challenges for the science, aiming to demonstrate the feasibility of nuclear fusion as a safe, clean, and limitless energy source. In a global context marked by the urgent need for sustainable solutions to the growing energy demand and the climate crisis, ITER stands as the largest scientific experiment ever undertaken in the field of energy, bringing together the expertise and resources of the collaboration of 35 nations. This thesis explores many arguments, from the physical principle to the engineering of the tokamak, with the aim of providing a real contribute to this ambitious project and giving an overview of ITER's potential and its future impact. The principal part regards HIT, a measurement instrument realized by AXIST S.R.L, which allowed the work on this thesis.
