Abstract:

This thesis work has the aim of optimizing a new innovative capacitive position sensor for active shock absorbers already in development for several years. The capacitive sensor prototype is composed of a circuit that generates a square wave proportional to the capacity of the shock absorber. In particular, a study was carried out on the parasitic capacitance introduced by the connection cables between the shock absorber and the sensor, as well as a calibration of the characteristic between frequency and capacitance. A study was also carried out on the variation of the dielectric constant of the oil from the temperature used in the shock absorbers by integrating the temperature dependence into the position characteristic. After which the dynamic behavior of the sensor was analyzed using position datasets of real shock absorbers by analyzing various digital filters including mean, rolling-median and low pass filter. Finally, the frequency behavior of the datasets was studied in order to discuss the sampling frequency of the sensor.
